Ford car keys have changed a lot over the last couple of decades. Originally, all Ford vehicles used a Tibbe key. Then, a more secure laser cut key was released. Now, many Ford cars use a proximity key. We can repair and replace the following keys:

Ford Laser Key

Laser keys have been used in Ford vehicles since 2004. Ford laser keys are significantly more secure than Tibbe keys, as the locks are harder to pick and are typically sturdier. The blade of the key is blunt and typically has square edges, and both sides of the key have identical notches. 

Ford Proximity Key

A Ford proximity key is a fob that allows you to enter your car, there is no physical key involved. If you click the unlock button on the key, the fob will transmit radio waves to your car for the vehicle to unlock.

We will need the following information:

  • Your vehicle registration number
  • Your postcode
  • A photo of the key you want a replacement for
  • A photo of your driving licence

Our technology uses photographs of your car keys in order to create a replacement set. We scan the photograph of the blade into the software and machine we use to create the new key. If you cannot send us a picture of your existing keys, you will need to get in touch with an auto locksmith to help you

The Cut Key Only service provides you with a replacement key that will not be paired to your car when you receive it. The key will allow you to unlock and lock your doors but will not allow you to start the engine until it has been programmed. Only a person or company (e.g. Auto Locksmith or Garage) that has specialist software can program the key to your vehicle for you. They will charge you for this service.
